South Plug Sessions presents Toni Gutiérrez & Carlo Juranccelli (Antonus Synths) Live

Next Thursday, June 26th, Altell Teatre Lliure Montjuïc hosts a new installment of South Plug Sessions, a series of sound encounters that propose a dialogue between electronic music, new audiences and spaces. On this occasion, the session features Barcelona’s Toni Gutiérrez, the mind behind Antonus Synths, and Carlo Juranccelli, in a live set focused on analog synthesis and improvisation.

South Plug Sessions was born as a space for intimate listening, looking for new spaces and audiences. Each edition is a piece within a curatorial work, designed to invite the public to explore, feed curiosity, let themselves go and open their minds. Far from the big stages and the logics of spectacle, here the intimate, the handmade, what happens in the moment, is privileged. In this context, Toni Gutiérrez appears as a precise choice.

Founder of Antonus Synths, Gutiérrez is a designer and technician specialized in analog synthesizers with a practice that goes far beyond the music circuit. His work has been key in the revitalization of the ARP 2600, one of the most iconic machines in the history of synthesis. Far from replicating a mythical past, Toni has been able to reinterpret it from a contemporary point of view: his instruments are handcrafted, incorporate eurorack compatibility, midi integration, and a refined aesthetic care. Each Antonus unit is, in a way, a unique piece. In his hands, the modular synthesizer is not just a technical tool, but an expressive extension of his own sonic thinking.

The Altell session will not be a regular show. It will be rather a sound drift in real time, built from improvisation, ambient and the extensive use of analog hardware. Gutiérrez does not perform a closed work: he inhabits the sound, modulates it, tensions it, lets it flow. His live performance is an exercise in mutual listening between man and machine, between control and chance. The audience is invited to dive into this gray zone and let themselves be carried away.

The chosen venue, Altell, is in itself a statement of intent. As part of the cultural ecosystem of Mescladís, this space promotes artistic encounters that remove labels and privilege the living, the ephemeral. With a limited capacity and a proposal always in search, Altell is consolidated as a refuge for those who understand art as a sensitive experience rather than as a product. Its link with the environment of the Teatre Lliure adds a scenic layer that enhances the performative sense of these sessions.

Admission is free, but seating is limited. The event will take place between 9:30 pm and 11:30 pm, in a setting that invites to meditation rather than euphoria. It will be a night to stop time and surrender to listening, to that intimate frequency in which music is felt rather than danced.
