It will be difficult to find a product like the MASCHINE that, for that price, offers what it offers: intuitively, quickly and without limits, to be able to create and obtain a robust sound. The MK3 lets you easily produce rhythms, melodies, and harmonies with powerful drum synthesizers, high-quality sounds, a built-in sampler, and more, thanks to an integrated hardware / software system that includes sampler, arrangement system, mixer, effects, and a integrated audio interface.
José Dal Pozzo aka Águilas Paralelas accepted our invitation to explore the MK3 for the first time. Here he introduces us to some tutorials that introduce us to the world of MASCHINE, manufactured by Native Instruments. He talked abut it with us:
“For over a decade I have experimented with drum machines, oldschool hardware samplers and audio software, but I had never spent days creating with Maschine. First, this MK3 version surprised me with its solid construction, huge and ultra-responsive pads, and rotary knobs excellent to the touch.
I was able to see that producing rhythms, melodies and harmonies can be done entirely from the controller, without looking at the computer, which made me very happy, considering that I spend a lot of time in front of the screen. I see the best of two worlds: an instinctive and musical workflow typical of the standalone groovebox, with all the processing, storage and editing power of computers, although I insist, we can finish complete musical pieces, operating directly from the controller and its beautiful built-in displays.
I already knew Native Instruments (Massive, Reaktor and Kontakt). They sound incredible and also, having access to them and a huge range of instruments via the Native Access application, means that you have a sound palette that is constantly updated.
The Maschine MK3’s audio and midi inputs and outputs allowed me to quickly make it the centerpiece of my home studio, sequencing external synths and drum machines with ease, while also sampling old VHS, cassette and vinyl with ease. Its independent headphone output is very practical for monitoring and cueing when looping live for example.
In conclusion, I can say that once you enter the Maschine universe, you will hardly be able to get out of it, by merging in a single musical production system all the good things of the past, present and future. ”
Here we present 4 clips. Tutorials that will help you know how to get started and integration possibilities. We hope you like them!
1- First beat with Maschine MK3:
Instrumental beat performance using both Maschine sound presets, as well as custom synthesis with massive and sampler. Through scene launching, live looping and the use of performance FX, an energetic performance is achieved that allows the potential of this system to be communicated.
2- Guitar Looping:
Instrumental performance recorded live, generating tonal phrases with electric guitar, captured in loop in Maschine, to later accompany it with internal sounds of Native Instruments.
3- Sequencing external synths and internal sounds:
Taking advantage of the MK3’s built-in MIDI interface, we sequenced 2 Korg Volca synthesizers in Step and Live Looping mode, combining their raw and live sound with Maschine’s Massive Sampler and Synth.
4- Sampling cassette and VHS to make an instrumental beat:
A 1978 marantz cassette deck, a VHS player and aged tapes stored for years in a drawer, become sonic resources for making a beat exclusively based on Maschine MK3 with its integrated audio interface and samples obtained from the deck.
