Maha Records is a collective and independent label established in Santiago de Chile since 2017. Through sounds such as pop, alternative and electronics, its artists seek to publicize the sounds and identity of South America. The label that houses renowned Chilean artists, explores electronics with different sounds. A movement that seeks to value its identity and sound heritage.
It was born as a defense of the independence of
music in terms of creativity. We have developed artists in the mainstream and the alternative as they are Schuster and Mariel Mariel , with the slogan of always keeping music above the concept of industry that surrounds large transnational labels, in this way we achieve a name and recognition for the talent that it brings together among its artists.
Another of our facets has always been to be at the forefront with new technologies, as a result of this was “the first record company in virtual reality”, an action recognized at the Cannes Film Festival and awarded at ACHAP, as well as promoting the adoption of technology. Blockchain with new media such as NFTs and decentralized platforms such as AUDIUS.
The artists that make up the electronics area have their own space and journey in music, Maha Records now gives them a new meeting place.
It all started with the production of one of the most emblematic songs in Latin America: “El Derecho de Vivir en Paz” by Victor Jara, where they collaborated for the first time Derrok and Manhey , the latter was also in charge of the
production of the version of “Musicxs de Chile”, with more than 30 national artists.
For the electronic version, names such as Monsieur Periné
(Colombia) Fernando Milagros (Chili), Huaira (Ecuador) and Kalamarka (Bolivia) representing the countries affected by social outbreaks, giving note that electronic music can also exercise a role and social commitment.
Maha Records has been sounding loud on digital platforms for a while with its artists and now it is no exception. The newly included Quinto Fuego is a collective that brings together musicians from different places throughout Chile, founded by Derrok, a Downtempo benchmark that has already been part of instances such as Boiler Room.
Quinto Fuego includes Brava, Orgánica Elemental, Nintu and Derrok with whom
they carry out a festival on the slopes of the Villarrica volcano and have released the first compiside as a tribute to this place, “Tierra de Volcanes Vol 1” (2020). It has its sound linked to root music, folklore and the ancestral.
Thomas Novoa, who has an avant-garde proposal in electronics incorporating elements of minimal, ambient and deep house. His productions have given way to an important reception in Europe, not only for his audience but also large companies such as Mercedes Benz, Dior and GQ have licensed his music.
Manhey, who is preparing his releases for this 2021, seeks to portray through elements of electronic music and acoustic ecology different soundscapes, relating the listener to space and active listening through immersive audio technologies.
In an eclectic way, Maha Records aligns itself with new challenges, where beyond the aesthetics and style of each artist, their messages and vision of the world will prevail for this group of artists.
