Hello! My name is Laercio Schwantes aka L_cio. Thank you very much South Plug for the invitation to speak a little about the use of musical instruments in my productions and live performances.
My involvement with music began most deeply in childhood, when I studied flute for 7 years.

After a long period without getting involved with music, in 2002 I got to know raves and clubs and ended up studying to produce my own music, but still without playing the flute. Until I met Alan (Portable / Bodycode) who discovered that I played the flute and invited me to record the song ” A Process – flutramental version Which was released by the Live at Robert Johnson label. After that release, we made more tracks, also released by the same label and also a record about Perlon and the involvement in his album of ! K7 After that, I played with him and started doing it in my live as well.
At the same time, I began to realize that other musical instruments could also make sense in my compositions and since then I have worked with some instrumentalists: André Nardi (oboe), Massumi (cello), Bica (Trombone), I look Silveira (piano). ), as well as many storytellers and singers (Aroop Roy, Ellie Ka, Laura Diaz).
I would like to show you a bit how I use the flute, cello and trombone in my recordings and also live.
To capture these instruments, I usually use the same microphone that I use for recording and playing the flute: the AKG C519 . The DAW I use is Ableton live and, in the instrument channel, I already try to keep the sound close to what I will use in the final composition. In the same way, by telephone, the instrumentalist listens to his recording with the effects he likes the most. One suggestion I would like to give is: always record the first take (artist’s soundtrack) because many original and very rich individual ideas come from there.
Here, my flute recording preset (I also use this preset live).

With Massumi , to the cello, I had the pleasure of recording it a few times and we also performed live sometimes, like at the AKT party in São Paulo (party only live).
Here’s a video of one of the recordings I made with him last year for a future EP.
And the preset used in this recording:

And here, my presentation with him on AKT – Be-AT.TV – in this live we use a contact microphone for the cello and the aforementioned AKG on the flute.
With Bica, I also had the pleasure of recording it for my next remix I did for Spookyfish’s Untwine which will be released on DSRPTV records on 3/12. Here is a bit of the recording:
And here’s the trombone recording preset:

My flute recording process is very free and generally the starting point is some pad, lead, ambient sound that includes a harmony that is related to the flute. I put a bit of my process at your disposal here, and I also left the ableton project with this recording. In the project I used an Ableton Strings Detune Pad, with a Schwarzonator (Preset Leave My Head Alone) and on the other channel the flute with the effects I normally use.
