The group did not stop creating during 2020, on the contrary, they released single after single, thus gathering material for their first full-length release entitled “Indus”. This work brings together all the releases from last year along with new songs. We chatted with them to find out a little more internally what this release means and other details. Listen to it while you read here.
It is the presentation of the project so we did not want to get confused with many names, Indus It is a constellation that is supposed to represent an Indian with a bow, but more than the figure as such, the idea of the Indian or the Raizal taken to the sidereal caught our attention, I think our sound goes around a bit.
The album gathers most of the 2020 releases except “Indus meets palenque records”, which are two remixes that came out on the Palenque Records label, and a single that we released in November titled “Noche Oscura”
Well, the idea was to get the album out there in May, but with all the pandemic things, it didn’t make much sense to put out an album that we weren’t going to be able to play for a while, so we decided to extend the process and go out by tracks (one by one). The album was ready out there in February 2020 and the process took several years because it contains songs that were made in 2018.
We were lucky to win a scholarship in 2019 that gave us some money to be able to finish the songs, record some things in the studio, and master. It also raised the money for videos and pressing 300 discs that were mandatory for the scholarship but it has not been moved much by the health crisis. We hope to sell them in the future.
This first release meant a lot, it was showing songs that had been saved on the hard drive for a while, it meant finishing things that were just ideas, exploring the visual universe that can be created around music, it meant connecting with many people through these processes and of course the music itself, to be heard internationally. We are very happy and grateful to have been able to do it, I think 2020 was a good year in the midst of everything, now with a lot of desire to play it live, we were in those before the pandemic and we managed to do a show with Mitúin Bogota and several on the Caribbean coast of Colombia.
