Plaça Sense Cel

South Plug presents Plaça Sense Cel, an audiovisual work premiering on Thursday, 13 November at 20:00 in the Sala Noble of the Convent de Sant Agustí, within the XIV Mostra Sonora i Visual.

Plaça Sense Cel is a live A/V proposal—analog/modular synthesis with generative visuals—that offers a non-literal re-reading of the 1938 bombing in Plaça de Sant Felip Neri. We do not reconstruct the event: we open a space for situated listening and respectful memory. In half-light, the audience shares vibrations, rhythmic impulses, tense silences and modulated textures, performed live with electronic instruments from different eras and technologies, immersed in projections generated and manipulated in real time.

The piece is conceived as atemporal: it can be read in other contexts where waiting, fear and uncertainty return. Its dramaturgy flows as a single breath; five moments—calm, alert, impact, darkness/ruin and mourning/breath—do not appear as blocks, but as layers that overlap and dissolve into one another. The experience advances without cuts, guiding the passage between what we were, what happens to us, what remains.

Plaça Sense Cel Team

Direction & Production — Juan de Dios Valdivieso (South Plug). Creative producer and curator, articulating the concept and the sound-visual dramaturgy. Over a decade connecting the independent scene, documentary narratives and live music.

Live Music — Free Norman (Toni Gutiérrez & Carlo Juranccelli). A Barcelona-based duo focused on analog and modular synthesis. Their sets combine low-end drones, mechanical micro-pulses and granular layers in real time, working with analog/modular synthesizers, step sequencers and live processing.

  • Toni Gutiérrez. Sound designer and electronic luthier (Antonus Synths). Specialist in analog synthesis, instrument building and maintenance. Provides the timbral body: drones, bass, grain layers and hardware processing.
  • Carlo Juranccelli. Musician and producer. Works with synthesizers, drum machines and samplers. Dark, textural rhythmic signature with trip-hop roots and mechanical pulse—driving forward motion and tension.

Generative Visuals — Xina (Carla) Pucheta. A/V artist. Develops texture-and-shadow projections with masks, after-image and color degradation, synchronized to the emotional curve: suggestion in calm, intermittence in alert, contained contrast at impact and desaturation in ruin. Generative and in real time. She will be accompanied by Mica Villafañe in the visual controls.
